Los Angeles, CA – Five teachers from Jamaica visited Loma Linda University for a week-long, intensive training in integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) from July 11, 2015 to July 18, 2015.
On July 16th, Executive Vice President Yasmin Facey treated the teachers to an amazing Jamaican dinner, and was eagerly joined by Treasurer Martine Hall, Executive Board Member Jackie Small, and Corresponding Secretary Sharon Small.
On July 18th, Martine Hall and Member David McDonald braved the Los Angeles rain to give the teachers a tour of Hollywood, topped off by dinner at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffle.
Thank you to the amazing teachers for their commitment to promoting STEM subjects among Jamaica’s youth — Althea McFarlane-Allen from Denham Town High School in Kingston; Donna Reid from the Manchester High School; Phillipa Morris-Grey from Brown’s Town High School in St Ann; Dennis Clarke from Oracabessa High School in St Mary; and Lloyd Watson from Morant Bay High School in St Thomas.
