This year, Jamaica Awareness Association of California, Inc (“JAAC”) will award he David Haughton Scholarship to an eligible high school senior or college student within Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. The scholarship is a one-time award in the amount of $500. The scholarship recipient must be of Caribbean heritage and in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher).
The scholarship will be presented at the annual JAAC Scholarship Banquet on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Los Angeles Airport Marriot Hotel.
MAKING A SCHOLARSHIP REQUEST
Essays should include the student’s name, contact information and school. Essays can be mailed to the address below or emailed to [email protected] by October 22, 2023.

- Why is community service and volunteering important to you?
- What motivates your community involvement?
- Describe your current community service and its impact.
- Have you ever received awards or recognition for your academic achievements, leadership, or service?
